Searum was formed in early 2003 from the desire to play and record music that is above average.
They have accomplished this goal and are always striving to do better. An important aspect of
this accomplishment is getting the right band member chemistry with the right amount of experience.
The band takes music very seriously and at the same time realizes that this should be fun and enjoyable.
Leading up to the forming of Searum is a member of the disbanded Lost Angel.
Mark Zellner(guitar) brings experience in recording and performing knowledge dealing with the release
of two independent original full length CD releases (Destination
in 1998 and Psychosomatic in 2000), a track release on a compilation CD by Dwell Records of
California, and a track included on an episode of the Sci-Fi channel syndicated original TV
series called First Wave. Cousins Mark Zellner and Mike Shrock(bass) have re-forged an unbeatable
bass and guitar combination from the band The Hellbenders which had a generous following in the
Mansfield, Ohio area back in the early 1980's. Much of that same attitude and dedication
to 'quality and not quantity' is shining through again.
Searum plays music that you don't find being played by very many other bands for a reason.
Maybe it's the 'kick ass and take no prisoners' attitude towards music, the attention to
detail, or maybe they don't want to be like every other band out there. Whatever it is, this
is one band you will want to check out.
